Welcome Message
I could talk about how BTG has the widest distribution reach in Asia, or how we are the fastest growing young company in the region, or that Big Tree Global aims to become the best distributor of consumer goods in the world. But, what most people ask about after we talk about all of those things is how I named the company.
I founded this company with the concept I have had in my mind since visiting Thailand shortly after the tsunami of 2004 during my time at Harvard University.
The image one of total destruction in that particularly hard hit area of the Pipi Islands, everything was flattened except for one big tree. The local community had donned the tree with lei`s, birds were nesting in its branches, and flowers and prayers were strewn at its base.
In the middle of devastation this lone tree was full of life because of the many years spent growing its roots. Though business and tsunamis may have seemed a dramatic comparison when I first explained the concept years ago, this past year we were fortunate enough to endure the earthquakes and tsunamis of 2011 in Japan and continue our growth through Asia.
OUR ROOTS
People – BTG team members provide significant contributions that come from creativity, diversity and expertise. While we are a young company, we surround ourselves with more experienced mentors. Transparency – Asia is oftentimes a secretive place to do business, we hope to make business processes seamless and beneficial for all of our clients.
Adaptability- We pride ourselves in working with our brands to optimize our business through localization (when necessary) and to adapt to rapidly changing Asian market conditions.
Accountability- From our business structure to our client commitments, we are accountable at all levels of BTG and we expect the same from our partners.
Drive – We are young. We are diverse. We bring passion and dedication to our clients everyday.
A brand isn’t 9am to 6pm, neither are we.
Approach
At BTG, we seek disruptive and high potential products and brands. Once a brand is selected, we work by building brand consistency through a regional marketing platform ensuring the maintenance of maximum long-term value in each country. We establish brands, and we make hits.
Cultivating Ideas
Good ideas are the foundation of good products and business; however, there are more ideas than good businesses. Though we do consider equity positions to boost working capital for some of our partners, it is not only about capital infusion to make great ideas great businesses.
